(This is a picture of Emily and Joseph just as Joseph was waking up from a nap on our bed. She likes to crawl next to him and get under his blanket.)
Joseph had his six month checkup last week. He "looks like a million bucks" according to our doctor. He's 15 lb 3 oz, and just under 27 inches long. So Little Joe is a little smaller than his cousin Hoss.

Emily's still Emily. There are always lots of stories about her. Today for both meals she had to dish up her own vegetables. And tonight she pinched her thumb, so we had to get a bandaid. She insisted on putting cream (antibiotic) on it, since that's what we did last time. It really is amazing how much a bandaid and a sticker can take pain away!
The other day Emily had my measuring tape and wanted to play with it. So I pulled it out a few inches so she could see it. It's the type that stays out until you press the bottom to pull it in. So she walked around the room holding it up to the wall at different spots. Apparently she was seeing what 4 inches looks like in different places.
She's also getting more independent with "reading." She has grabbed an ad from the Sunday paper, sat on the couch and exclaimed, "I read," while holding it in front of her. She also likes to read to Joseph. She'll sit next to him and babble about the page, or point out the different pictures.
And Emily has taken an interest in ironing. About 2 weeks ago I was ironing a pair of pants, and Emily pulled up her little chair behind me and said, "I watch." She sat there until I was done, and then handed me a shirt out of the basket for me to iron next. She watched that for a little while, but then got bored and went to go play.
If she doesn't want to eat lunch or supper right away, I tell her that it's time to go to bed. Then she runs to the kitchen saying, "I eat!"
